Star Wars will be the main theme for Disney Infinity 3.0 which will arrive this autumn.
My children have really enjoyed Disney Infinity and I think this will be on their Christmas list, (probably along with Lego Dimensions.
Cat Physics – Game Choice #08
If you like using your iPhone for games (in the main casual gaming) then you may be interested in the following games that I have enjoyed playing on my iPhone over the last few years.
What are cats up to at dawn, when nobody’s around?
Sneaking around the back alleys?
Probably!
Going through garbage cans?
Not likely!
Playing Donut Games? Most certainly!
Join the cats in their favorite midnight ball game: CAT PHYSICS!
The objective is simple — Pass the ball from one cat to another! Sounds too simple?
Oh, wait… did we mention flip boards, glass windows, trap doors and other obstacles?
This is a nice fun game that combines physics (in a way), puzzles, logic and cats!
As with lots of these games on the iPhone where it works well is as a casual game that can be played for a few minutes at a time. Some of the puzzles are relatively simple to complete, others take a fair few attempts to get right. Even if you manage to complete a level, you can go back and try and fine tune your attempt to get a better result.

Cover Orange – Game Choice #07
If you like using your iPhone for games (in the main casual gaming) then you may be interested in the following games that I have enjoyed playing on my iPhone over the last few years.
Cover Orange is an exciting puzzle game suitable for all ages. It combines realistic game physics, enduring levels, vibrant colours and laugh out loud animations.
It’s time to pump up the juice in a game made from pure orange concentrate!
Cover Orange is one of those puzzle games that fits well into the category of casual gaming, something you pick up, play for five or ten minutes and then put down again.
The premise of the game is rather silly, you need to protect the oranges from the rain, or to quote the game:
A deadly genetically modified rain cloud of fruit dissolving vapour is heading for the orange capital of the world!
You do this by using a combination of logic, physics and various objects from wheels to barrels.
Once you have used everything, the rain appears and if it hits the oranges they shrivel and go black. Most of the levels can be completed in a few minutes, which is why it is such a good casual game, however with 340 levels, the game will take a fair amount of time to complete.
Overall a fun game that is simple to play, but can be challenging too.
Monopoly for iPad – Game Choice #06
If you like using your iPad for games (in the main casual gaming) then you may be interested in the following games that I have enjoyed playing on my iPad over the last few years.

To be honest most people either hate Monopoly or tolerate Monopoly, there are also a few people who quite like it.
Playing Monopoly on the iPad makes me realise how many “house” rules there were in the games I played and how the actual rules can be quite different.
What I like about the iPad version of Monopoly is that when playing with others, it is easier and quicker to play and certainly takes a lot less time to setup and put away!
Playing against the iPad, using the AI, is less satisfying after a while, as you can predict the behaviour and use that knowledge to defeat it.
So for me Monopoly for iPad is an alternative to using the actual board game when you need a quick game or when you are in a place in which you can’t play the board game.
Scrabble for iPad – Game Choice #05

Scrabble for iPad £4.99
I quite enjoy playing Scrabble, but it’s not the easiest game to play on the move, when travelling or when you’re on your own. I bought Scrabble for the iPhone.
When I got my iPad, I did buy Scrabble for iPad and was pleased with it.
It works well and the AI can be quite challenging when you play against the “computer”.
I have to admit I am slightly sceptical about the dictionary as it doesn’t allow some words, and has some really “weird” two letter words in it. However it is consistent and as everyone is playing by the same rules, it isn’t too much of an issue if you are playing Scrabble for iPad with a real person.
Some may think that, where as Words with Friends has Facebook integration built in that this is a limitation with Scrabble, others like me think of it as a real advantage.
From an usability perspective I found it very easy to move my letter tiles around and to try words out.
Overall I like Scrabble for iPad, and it is possible to play reasonably quick games against the AI. Quick and simple interface means that it works quickly and easily.

Playing games on the iPad
If you like using your iPad for games (in the main casual gaming) then you may be interested in the following apps. Electronic Arts are having an iPad Game Sale this weekend, so some of these are cheap today.
It’s a classic game and one that I am sure most of us played at some point in our lives. The advantage of the iPad version is that very difficult for your opponents to cheat!
ScrabbleI am always in two minds about Scrabble on the iPad, as some of the words the computer opponent uses I am sure are not real words! As a result it can be quite challenging to beat the iPad.
With over a hundred games and many different combinations, if you enjoy Solitaire card games then get this app. As well as traditional favorites such as Freecell, there are many different weird and wonderful variants. I particularly enjoy the challenge of Lucas or Forty Thieves.
Based on the dice game, this challenging word game is perfect for those few minutes while waiting for a train or a programme to start on the TV. Sixteen letters on the board and you need to make as many words as possible only using the letters and ensuring that are in order too. Like Facebook there are combinations in the results that I am sure are not real words!
If you like Lego, like Harry Potter and like puzzle games, then you are going to really enjoy Lego Harry Potter on the iPad.
Fantastic Contraption on the iPhone
One of my favourite sites at the moment is Fantastic Contraption so was well pleased to see an iPhone version.
The online game is described as.
An online flash puzzle game where you build whimsical machines to solve each level.
Well the iPhone version is basically an iPhone version of the online Flash game.
If you have played the website version, the iPhone version takes a little getting use to but you can still build quite complicated contraptions.
The downside is the £2.99 price, which is the most expensive iPhone app I have bought so far.
It’s not the most stable of apps for the iPhone the tutorial caused the app to crash twice and a hard reset of the iPhone.
Overall a really fun game.
